Hidden Curriculum Series: Applying to Graduate School

Are you Applying to Graduate School Soon?

Are you interested in applying to a Masters or Ph.D. program this year or in the near future? If so, please join us for a special info session that will focus on what it means to apply to graduate school in this moment. This is a joint Ac*Knowledge and Next Gen Initiative event, and a portion of the evening's discussion will center on developing our personal narratives.

1) From 7:30 -8:30 PM we will go through the nuts and bolts of the application process, including the timeline, costs (and how to pay for it), how to make your application stand out (in a good way), as well as some strategies for avoiding common pitfalls when writing your statement of purpose. We'll also review some ways the application process has changed and how programs admit students (and how many!) and what to keep in mind as you apply.

2) 8:30-9pm, we’ll hear from graduate students about their experiences applying to top Masters & Ph.D. programs in the sciences and humanities. We’ll also give you a chance to explore “why” you’re interested in pursuing this degree, and what are some key questions you might need to answer before you apply.
