Dr. Leslie Jiménez is a proud first-generation Mexican American from Compton, California, with a passion for equity. In her 10 + years working in education, Leslie has served in diverse leadership roles in both the charter and district sectors across the K-12 spectrum and most recently, in higher education.

Leslie began her career as a high school science teacher in Venice, California and has since worked in the culturally rich and diverse communities of Los Angeles, Compton (her hometown), San Jose, and Oakland. She has served in a range of leadership positions, including parent workshop coordinator, founding instructional lead teacher at a middle school, school administrator at an elementary school, and a central office director. Currently, Leslie completed her doctorate in Education Leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she also served as a teaching fellow, field advisor, researcher, and a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee on Equity and Diversity and the RIDES program. In these leadership roles, Leslie focused on improving the academic outcomes for traditionally underserved student populations, including low-income, first-generation, English Learners, Latinx, African American, and Special Education students. And, it is with this same commitment for equity that Leslie proudly serves in the NextGen Leadership Team.
