1. Will the human brain become combined with technology and what does that mean for our future?

It seems that integration of technology and the human brain could be achieved in the near future. If this can be accomplished, I hope to see how it will affect human evolution in my lifetime. I have also wondered if technology and artificial intelligence will ever get to the point where it no longer needs humans.

 

2.  People today may seek to answer this question by looking at the rate at which technology has been advancing. People have made many predictions in this way for centuries and they seem to be wrong more often than they are right. For example, humans have predicted that we would be driving flying cars in the 21st century but clearly this prediction did not come to fruition. However, this does not mean that we should not try to come up with answers to these kinds of questions. One way that we may try to predict the advancement of technology could be to look at current projects in the field of technology and artificial intelligence and compare them to past projects. By doing this, we can better understand how long it might take for a project, such as integrating the human brain with artificial intelligence, to be completed.

In this case, we are seeking a prediction for something that has never been done before, which significantly decreases the reliability of the prediction. Predictions for things such as the the weather or traffic tend to be much more reliable because we have access to large stores of past weather and traffic data. We can make a reasonable prediction for how much traffic there will be in a certain place at a certain time based on the past. For example, if there has been heavy traffic going into Boston at 9 AM on mondays for the past 10 years, we can be fairly confident that this pattern will continue, given that there are no major changes to the environment (such as an extra lane being added to the highway). Finding an answer to this question would be like trying to predict the traffic patterns of a newly built city that has never been used before.
