My name is Field Brown, and I grew up in Mississippi watching and playing football, baseball, basketball, and tennis. I am a big-time sports fan. My claim to fame is that I went to high school with famous pro-bowl NFL player, Malcolm Butler. Because of him, I am a Pats fan. I absolutely love cooking – Southern food, crazy desserts, and Indian food are my three main areas, but I love trying new stuff too. I stayed in Mississippi for college, and I went to the great Mississippi State University. I pursued my passion for reading novels there, and double majored in Literature and Philosophy. After graduating, I got a Rhodes Scholarship and went to the University of Oxford for two years. My broad research interests are 20th century African American Literature. I also love creative writing, and hope to write a novel one day (if I ever find the time and discipline). I am a Writing and Fellowships Tutor, and would love to chat with anyone about their work, or sports, or cooking, and tons of other things.
