Lopez D. Matthews

Lopez Matthews is an Adjunct Professor at Coppin State University where he teaches courses covering United States, African American, African and World History. He is also the Manager of the Digital Production Center and Digital Production Librarian for the Howard University Libraries and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center. In this capacity he has managed digitization projects including the Oliver Otis Howard Collection, Howard University Men and Women in the Armed Forces Collection, Howard University Yearbooks and ROTC Photographic Collection. He has been an Executive Council Member on the board of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, Inc. (ASALH). Currently, he is a commissioner on the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture, Advisory Board of the Banneker-Douglass Museum in Annapolis and a member of the Board of Directors of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in Baltimore. He holds a B.A. in history from Coppin State University, a Masters degree in Public History and a PhD in United States History from Howard University.
