Betül received her PhD in Biomolecular Chemistry from Emory University. As a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow, she developed methods for paleo-experimental evolution to reconstruct and express 500million year old genes. In addition to her current position at Harvard, she is an Assistant Professor at ELSI Tokyo Institute.
