Increasing Diversity Beyond the PhD

Suggestions (from The Urban Scientist)

• Senior colleagues, white male colleagues in particular, might leverage their popularity and insist planning committee book URM and junior scholars at the same event. 
• Recommend URM to journalists/media
• URMs include but not limited to: women, people w/disabilities, people of color, indigenous, LGBTQ, 1st generation college OR STEM graduates, from working class families (rural OR urban).
• Broader considerations: URM of STEM scholars from community colleges and minority serving institutions
• Scientists from the Global South especially Africa, Latin America, researchers centering Indigenous knowlege
