April 6, 2017
Jasanoff

WHEN: Thursday, April 13, 12:00pm-1:00pm (additional discussion can continue until 2)
WHERE: Lehman Hall Room 101 (Dudley House fireside room)
HOSTED BY: GSAS Science Policy Group

What is the role of scientists in today’s society? Should scientists speak up about politically sensitive topics? If so, how? Is the planned March for Science this month a good idea?

Come join us for an informal discussion over lunch with Professor Sheila Jasanoff to discuss these and other topics. Her work explores the role of science and technology in the law, politics, and policy of modern democracies, with particular attention to the nature of public reason.

Professor Jasanoff runs the Harvard Kennedy School's Program in Science, Technology and Society, which also offers a secondary field for graduate students who are interested in understanding the workings of science and technology in relation to other social institutions and processes.

Sheila Jasanoff is Pforzheimer Professor of Science and Technology Studies at the Harvard Kennedy School. Prof. Jasanoff’s full biography can be found here.
