Sanes

WHEN: Tuesday, May 23, 12:00pm-1:00pm
WHERE: Northwest Building, Room 353 at Harvard University (52 Oxford St, Cambridge, MA)

The Harvard Science Policy Group will be hosting Joshua Sanes, PhD, Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Director of the Center for Brain Science at Harvard University.

Dr. Sanes was part of the working group that helped lead President Obama's BRAIN (Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies) Initiative started in 2013. In this role, Dr. Sanes helped to coordinate the effort to accelerate innovations in brain research and specifically the development of more sophisticated tools to map the neuronal circuitry. Professor Sanes' group worked with the White House and leaders at NIH, NSF, DARPA and FDA, as well as foundations focused on research for neurological disorders. The 21st Century Cures Act, which passed Congress in 2016, dedicated more funding to this program and promises to help unlock the mysteries of the human brain.

We hope you can join us for this discussion on the BRAIN Initiative, science policy, the 21st Century Cures Act, and more!
