Ligia S. Aldana

Ligia Aldana is an Associate Professor of Spanish, Latin American and Caribbean literature and cultural studies in the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at SUNY New Paltz, New York. She is also affiliate faculty in the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program. She has published on champeta music, boxing, cock fighting, and the work of Manuel Zapata Olivella, and other authors from the Northern coast of Colombia. Her most recent project examines the effects of Colombia’s armed conflict on Afrodescendant women victims of war in Montes de María, and the strategies they utilize to demand restitution, reparation, and no repetition.
