About the Senior Opinion Survey


The Senior Opinion Survey is a survey of registered voters in the United States born before 1941. The survey is academic research conducted by Ryan Enos, Professor, and Shom MazumderJacob Brown, Ph.D. Candidates, in the Department of Government at Harvard University and James Feigenbaum, Assistant Professor, in the Department of Economics at Boston University.

What is the purpose of this survey? 

The survey is part of an academic research project to better understand voters' opinions and how their opinions are related to where they grew up and where they have lived. The research will be published in academic journals.

What will happen to my responses?

Your individual responses will not be shared with anybody. In academic journals, we report only the average of all responses.

Why was I contacted?

You were selected from publicly available lists of registered voters in each state.

Is this research authorized by the university? 

Yes, this research has been approved by the Harvard University Committee on the Use of Human Subjects.
