Mijoo is a first-year Ph.D. student in comparative politics. She is interested in social psychology related to social adjustment, political behavior, and group conflict. Her current research interests include how self-perception and personality traits influence one’s positioning in a diverse group, and how individuals' behavior and cognitive ability is affected under stressful social situations.

Some of her previous works investigate why immigrants participate in street protests, using the concept of moral identity, what factors enhance the political empowerment of young adults, and whether group cohesion plays a role in social movements’ success or failure.

Before coming to Harvard, Mijoo worked for two years at a social enterprise and interned at NGOs and a law firm. Originally from South Korea, she spent half of her life in Singapore and the UK.
