Undergraduate Funding Opportunities

We understand that financial obligations often dissuade students from staying on campus over the summer to pursue research. In light of this, we will work with you to find funding so that you can continue to work with us during the summer months. Below, we provide some information on funding opportunities that are available to undergraduate researchers.

For Harvard undergraduates:

  1. Dean’s Summer Research Awards (support for seniors pursuing a senior honor’s thesis)
  2. PRISE (Undergraduates pursuing summer research in science and engineering)
  3. HCRP (Summer/term-time stipends)
  4. MCZ Grants-in-Aid for undergraduate research (for research involving MCZ collections)

For undergraduates from outside of the Harvard community, PIVOT can be a useful database for finding funding in a variety of fields and disciplines. (To search for opportunities, you will need to create a PIVOT login and then conduct an advanced search. In the search, be sure to specify ‘Undergraduate’ in the ‘Requirements’ field.)
