Electro-Hydrodynamic Instabilities in Electrolytes

The physics of electro-hydrodynamic instabilities in an electrolyte solution bound between two charge-selective membranes subject to direct current electric potential is very fascinating and relatively less understood. There are many questions that need to be experimentally verified; for example, threshold behavior of the instability on system parameters, vortices features, what are the characteristics of electrical noises observed after the onset of electro-convection, whether the instability is a supercritical or subcritical phenomena to name a few. Presently, we are doing an experimental study to understand these subtleties.
