Sophie Regnault

Postdoctoral Researcher
Sophie Regnault

Sophie originally trained and qualified as a veterinarian, spending some time working in general practice for a charity, before returning to the Royal Veterinary College in London (UK) to pursue her PhD. She studied the evolution and function of sesamoid bones, focusing on the patella (kneecap), and was awarded her doctorate in 2017. She is interested in the comparative evolutionary biomechanics of animals, but has also published on bony pathologies in the feet of large animals. Sophie joined the Pierce lab in 2018 as part of a larger project seeking to understand the evolution of the forelimb in mammals and their ancestors.
