Students may use the HP multifunction M577 in the Computer Resource Center (TMEC 225) or the HP multifunction M681 inTMEC 231c to scan documents directly to their email accounts.  These devices also support scanning to USB drive if desired.


How to scan from the HP Multi-function device using the Scan to Email option

1. Position the document(s) to be scanned either on the flatbed glass, or in the ADF (automatic document feeder). When using the flatbed, the document should be face-down (text side on the glass). When using the ADF, the documents should be placed with the text side facing up. There are also markings on both the flatbed and the ADF to denote document positioning.
2. Wake the device by tapping anywhere on the Control Panel screen, and/or tap the Home icon on the left.
3. Once at the Home screen, tap the purple Scan to Email icon.


4.    Tap in the To field, then use the on-screen keyboard to type your eCommons username.
5.    Tap on your eCommons username to add it to the To field.
6.    Tap the blue ‘hide keyboard’ icon (lower right).



7.    (Optional) Tap the gray Options icon to change settings such as file type, resolution, 
orientation, etc.  Default options are already set for optimal settings for most scan jobs.
8.    Verify your eCommons username is listed in the To field, and then tap the green Send icon.



9. On the final screen, there are three options: Cancel JobClear, and Retain.
     a. Tap Cancel Job within a few seconds if you wish to stop the scan before it can complete.
     b. Tap Retain if you intend to immediately scan another document to the same email address with the same settings.
     c. Tap Clear to remove all of the previous selections and settings. Note, if no selection is made within a few seconds, the device will complete the Scan to Email job and then automatically clear the settings and return to the main screen.
