Dr Gurdofarid Miskinzoda is the Head of Shiʿi Studies Unit (SSU) and Managing Editor of the Shiʿi Heritage Series in the Department of Academic Research and Publications (DARP) of The Institute of Ismaili Studies, London. She also teaches on aspects of Shiʿi history and thought at the IIS.

Dr Miskinzoda received her BA in Oriental and African Studies (1998) and her MA in Arabic Studies (2000) from the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Moscow State University n.a. M.V. Lomonosov. Gurdofarid completed her studies with a PhD in the History of the Near and Middle East and Islam from SOAS, University of London (2007). Most recently she has obtained an MBA in Higher Education Management from the Institute of Education, University College London.

Gurdofarid is the co-editor with Dr Farhad Daftary of The Study of Shiʿi Islam: History, Theology and Law (London, 2014) and the author of Narratives of the Life of Muhammad: Redefining Sīra Literature, Routledge (forthcoming).

Gurdofarid has also worked as a consultant to the Civil Society Director of the Aga Khan Development Network and to the Humanitarian Futures Programme (HFP), King’s College (University of London).
