Alejandra Meneses is an Assistant Professor in Language and Literacy Education at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She was a Posdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education during academic year 2010-2011. Her research focuses on describing and understanding the language of school and its linguistic and discursive challenges for learning. Her publications include the relation between syntactic complexity and oral narrative and expository texts (Meneses, Ow & Benítez, 2012; Benítez, Crespo, Alvarado, Ow & Meneses, 2012a) and the reflection about genre, text type and syntax across schooling (Meneses & Ow, 2012b).
