Wenjuan Qin is a doctoral candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She completed her Ed.M. degree at HGSE and undergraduate study in English language and linguistics at Beijing Foreign Studies University, China. With interest in both linguistics and Education, Wenjuan’s research focuses on discovering and utilizing linguistic features in children’s language to inform pedagogical practice. At HGSE, under the advisement of Dr. Uccelli, Wenjuan is conducting two lines of research. As a member of the Academic Language Team at the CCDD project, she analyzes the developmental trajectory of pre-adolescents’ and adolescents’ school-relevant language skills in academic writing. Meanwhile, as a native speaker of Mandarin, she is interested in studying the role that inter-cultural and inter-linguistic interaction plays in developing EFL learners’ communicative competence.
