Dr. Michael Johnson Mahande is a Senior Lecturer at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University where he teaches Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Research Methodology, and is the Data Manager for the Willows Impact Evaluation in Tanzania.

Dr. Mahande received his training at Sokoine University in Tanzania, his Master’s of Public Health from Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College, and a PhD in Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics from University of Bergen in Norway. He has extensive experience working with health systems in developing countries, and conducting research and evaluations in the areas of sexual and reproductive health. Previously, he worked as a Project Coordinator at CARITAS, Dar es Salaam Archdiocese, in the Mafia district, as a Research and Project Coordinator with Kilimanjaro Centre for Community ophthalmology, and a Project Manager Mwanza Intervention Trial Unit.
