Bibliography

This bibliography is intended as a point of departure for graduate students preparing a general examination field in modern Japanese history, although it should be of some use to all students interested in the subject. It includes FAR more items than can possibly be read in preparation for an exam field, and constitutes (a part of) the wider universe of works from which each student will constitute his or her field. Its kernel is a bibliography given to me as a graduate student in the 1970s by Professor Albert Craig, and has been added to over the years thanks to the work of a number of graduate research assistants. At the Zotero homepage, you may view recent changes the bibliography or browse its categories.
