Dr. Balboni is a graduate of Stanford University, Harvard Medical School, and the Harvard School of Public Health.  She is a radiation oncologist at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute with board certification in palliative care.  Tracy's primary research interests are in palliative care, including the psychosocial aspects of advanced cancer and radiotherapy for palliation. Within the psychosocial aspects of advanced cancer, she has a particular focus on the role of religion and spirituality in the experience of cancer. This includes the impact of religion/spirituality on coping and end-of-life medical care and the impact of spiritual care in the medical setting on patient end-of-life outcomes. Tracy's research also includes improving radiotherapy for palliation, such as studying applications of new radiotherapy technologies to palliation.  Dr. Balboni also serves as the Clinical Director of the Supportive and Palliative Raditation Oncology Service, and is an Assistant Residency Director o the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program.
