2016 HEAS Conference Submissions

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a program of graduate study ("postgraduate" in British degree classification systems).

Paper topics should engage with the conference theme, "[re]imagining Asia." East Asia, Inner Asia, and Southeast Asia may be some of the relevant geographical markers.

Applicants submit 1-3 page long abstract, not the full draft, by November 15, 2015. Full draft may be submitted only after the HEAS committee notifies the applicant of the paper's acceptance. All submission should be in modern English. 

The draft submitted to the conference should not have been published, accepted for publication, or is currently under review of publication.

The draft should be double-spaced with minimum 1 inch left and right, top and bottom margins. Standard 12-point Times New Roman font should be used. 

The draft may use any professional citation the departments of humanities and social science endorse (i.e. MLA, APA, and Chicago), but the citation should be consistent throughout the paper.  

The following Romanization systems should be used for Asian languages: Chinese (pinyin system), Japanese (Modified Hepburn system: former American National Standard System for the Romanization of Japanese), and Korean (McCune-Reischauer system)  

The deadline for the abstract submission is November 15, 2015. 

Authors of selected abstracts will be notified by mid-December. Final drafts of these papers are required to be submitted in a complete form by February 1, 2016. There is a $10 registration fee for participation in the conference.
