Dr  Nzovu  Ulenga  is  the  current  director  of  Health  Systems  Strengthening  and  Strategic  Information at the Management and Development for Health (MDH).  Dr. Ulenga has over 12 years of experience in HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs in sub-Saharan Africa and has worked in Nigeria,  Tanzania, and Botswana. He  received  his  doctorate  degree  in  Biomedical  Sciences  in  Public  Health from  the Harvard T. H. Chan School  of  Public  Health  in  2008;  his  training  focused  on  HIV/AIDS specifically  HIV  viral  genomic  dynamics  that  influences  infection,  diseases  progression/pathogenesis, and treatment  outcome.  His doctoral work at Harvard received  a distinguished thesis award  and resulted  in several publications in peer reviewed science journals. Dr. Ulenga directs and provides technical guidance in a number of programmatic areas including the training  of  physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare workers to support various service including PMTCT,  ART,  TB/HIV,  GBV,  and  pediatrics. He also lead and provide overall technical guidance in  strategic  information  on  data  collection, compilation, cleaning, analysis, reporting, and public health  evaluation. He  also oversees and  play leadership role in all program Quality Improvement (QI) activities to ensure continuous improvement to meet challenges and opportunities in all programs areas. Furthermore, he directs and provided technical guidance in laboratory services, Information technology, and supply chain so that supported sites receive technical assistance and adequate amount of drugs, laboratory reagents, and other supplies from MSD for smooth program operation. Dr. Ulenga is the principal Investigator (PI) on a number of  projects  including  Bioinformatics funded by the NIH;  laboratory  EQA  funded by CDC;  and  HIV  drug  resistance surveillance funded by GSK. Dr. Ulenga  has  demonstrated  a  history  of  successful project implementation; he has experience and training necessary to provide overall leadership as the PI of proposed work.
